The Voter Service Team is key to our work to empowering voters. Help is always wanted!
LWVPPR Voter Service Team members actively promote voter and civic education for the public and themselves. You can find League volunteers registering voters in high schools, libraries, and naturalization ceremonies or presenting nonpartisan ballot information in public forums. Our volunteers also work to "get out the vote" with postcards, phone and text banking. Volunteers with this Team also produce local content for League's online voter guide, VOTE411.org.
This Team meets about nine months of the year, commitment ranges from two hours a year to ten hours a month. Training and materials are provided - it's a great way to be involved in the civic life of our community and better understand our democracy! Contact Voter Service Chair Terri Weber at VoterService@LWVPPR.org.
This Team is involved in advocating for our rights and our community - in short, it's defending democracy. The League of Women Voters is known for its grassroots organizing and its study of issues before taking action. League positions may be taken at the local, state, and national level League use its positions to advocate for or against particular policies in the public interest and this is the group that takes action. Commitments vary from a few minutes to a few hours a month, from making a phone call to express an opinion to an elected official to organizing events. To get involved, contact the Advocacy Chair, Angela Stevens, at Info@LWVPPR.org.
League's Membership Team organizes special events for our members and takes care of the details around membership, including recruitment and database management. This Team meets as needed and the time commitment is no more than one hour a month, except when planning an event. Email the Membership Chair, Joan Hofer, at Membership@LWVPPR.org for more information.
Much of the work of our Communications Team is done "behind the scenes." The Website, Voter newsletter, media contacts, and main email address are managed by the Communications Team. Volunteers interested in developing or sharing their communication skills are welcome to help. Hours vary depending on interest, there's always something to do in communications. Contact League's Communications Chair, Julie Ott, at Info@LWVPPR.org.
The "Admin Team" is elected by the members at League of Women Voters of the Pikes Peak Region's annual meeting. The Admin Team functions as the LWVPPR board and its roles are defined in the LWVPPR Bylaws. The Team is responsible for guiding the organization throughout the year, including creating the LWVPPR calendar, maintaining community, state and national LWV contacts, planning selected meetings, and LWVPPR financial management. Seven members of this Team are elected by the membership for two-year terms, and two members may be appointed by the Team for terms up to one year (ending at the next Annual Meeting). The League of Women Voters runs on charitable contributions from members and neighbors. Through a variety of fundraising efforts, including our biggest fundraising event “Love the League”, we help keep the funds flowing so we can continue to provide excellent services and education for our community.
