Agenda
1. Reintroduction of LWV Admin Team members
2. Review board’s non-partisan policy—from old handbook:
CONFLICT OF INTEREST – When a matter arises that presents a conflict of interest to any member, that member shall be judicious concerning their continued involvement or degree of participation relative to that matter.
POLITICAL ACTIVITY: Nonpartisan policy “Nonpartisan” means that the League does not support or oppose any political party or candidate.
A) Partisan political (campaign) literature may be distributed at organized League meetings only if all candidates for a given race are provided the opportunity to participate.
B) Admin Team members are allowed to participate in political activities and campaigns after evaluation of the proposed activity by the entire Admin Team at an Admin Team meeting. Admin Team members shall disclose the extent of their proposed activity prior to commencing the activity.
Allowable activity includes, but is not limited to: a) precinct work; b) participation in a partisan political caucus; c) contributions that are “non-visible” support such as yard signs∗ and personal campaign donations; d) serving as registration officials and election judges. 2) Participation in a candidate’s campaign shall be considered on an individual-case basis under the following criteria: a) visibility of the member’s role(s) on the Admin Team; b) visibility of their proposed role in the campaign; c) extent of partisan political activity of other current Admin Team members; d) current political climate of the community. 3) Admin Team members shall resign from their post if they wish to be a candidate or give visible support to a political party or candidate for political office. “Visible support” shall be interpreted to mean visible to the public, e.g., having a role central to the campaign.**
